First Cambodian Foundation assisting deprived children, Krousar Thmey ("New Family" in Khmer) provides deprived Cambodian children with material, educational and social support in harmony with their environment and respectful of their traditions and beliefs. Our purpose is to help children develop and blossom into responsible adults. Krousar Thmey takes great care that its aid neither creates disharmony between a child and his relatives and friends, nor creates privileged or dependent children. We finance the supporting fees (scholar fees, accommodation, schooling material, etc.) for each child in a non nominative way. We give high consideration that the funding of the centres does not create privilege, dependency or disparity in the care we provide to the child until he becomes autonomous. Since 1991, Krousar Thmey has been committed to three kind of activities all over Cambodia: - Education and schooling support - Cultural and artistic development Aiming at efficient long term development, Krousar Thmey advocates the responsible involvement of local partners. All projects are run by Cambodians for Cambodians: more than 1,100 children taken in charge directly by 360 locals and around 2,700 others receive financial or material support (schooling, uniform, cultural activities, etc.). European volunteers provide communication assistance and financial oversight. Fund-raising is dependent on volunteers from our European branches. Krousar Thmey is an apolitical, non-religious organization that is state-approved in France, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
