With national and local officials

Relations with the Cambodian leaders

Whether for an inauguration or to demonstrate their support, His Majesty the King, the Prime Minister and his wife, and members of the royal family have visited Krousar Thmey’s centres on a number of occasions. These long-lasting relationships between the foundation and the Cambodian authorities are fundamental. They increase public awareness and the legitimacy and prestige accorded by the Cambodian people, and they increase financial contributions.

Cooperation with national and local officials

Cooperation with ministries and local authorities is also well developed, as shown by:

  • In accordance with the agreement with the Ministry of Education, a special class has been open in remote state schools for 5 to 10 deaf or blind children located in the area. In this case, Krousar Thmey covers the cost of training of the teachers and adds a supplement to their salaries to help support their efforts.
  • The Ministry of Education partly covers the employment costs of the teaching staff of the special education programme. This involvement, which is part of the government’s goal of “Education for All,” confirms the commitment of the State in this area.
  • The work in collaboration with our services when destitute children are found. Our centres are regularly contacted by local authorities requesting a child be allowed to benefit from our care.

Exchanges with foreign public institutions

Embassies and local authorities are also showing support through their financial contributions to our programmes. Some have also instigated recreational initiatives for the children in the centres.
